Brian D. Nicholas, MD was born and raised in Syracuse, NY. He attended Boston College and received his medical degree from Upstate Medical University. After graduation, Dr. Nicholas completed a residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. He then went on to complete a two year fellowship in Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery at the University of Virginia. Dr. Nicholas is board certified in both Otolaryngology as well as in Otology and Neurotology.

Dr Nicholas is an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology and Communication Sciences at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY. He treats children and adults for diseases of the ear and skull base such as hearing loss, dizziness, earache, ear infections, Meniere’s disease and skull base tumors. He performs surgery of the ear and skull base including cochlear implantation, tympanoplasty (reconstruction of the ear drum), mastoidectomy, ossicular chain reconstruction (repair of bones of hearing), stapedectomy, excision of acoustic neuroma/vestibular schwannoma and Gamma Knife radiation of skull base tumors.
